Just because you found a store or website that sells discount wakeboards, that doesn’t mean you can just buy the cheapest one they sell. Discount wakeboards or not, there are a few essentials that need to be taken into consideration before buying your first or your next wakeboard.

The first and foremost is of course safety. Those new and veteran to the sport both need to put safety first. Not only should the wakeboard be suitable for your skill level, if you’ve saved a lot of money by shopping for discount wakeboards should actually put their savings towards purchasing high-quality, well-fitting, Coast Guard approved wakeboard vests.

As far as safety is concerned, the next major consideration should be one’s skill level. Beginners should be shopping for heavier boards with longer fins because they’re more stable. Once a wakeboarder is able to stand upright and manage some simple skills, they can start thinking about graduating to a lighter and shorter wakeboard. There’s even the question of whether to opt for high rocker or low rocker, where rocker refers to the curvature of the board. To put it simply, beginners are best suited to boards with high rockers. Boards with lower rockers are best left to the pros. The above is one of the reasons the fact that wakeboarding can be a pricey pastime. New wakeboarders will likely blow through their first few sets of boards within a year or so. That of course makes opting for discount wakeboards is such a smart way to go.

After you know what equipment you’re going to be buying, the next stop at either a new or discount wakeboards shop is the binding section. Even if you’re looking at a used board with a set of existing bindings that you can fit into; and even if the store is willing to give you a free set, which are usually made cheaply and not terribly safe, the smartest choice is to have a custom set made. Each wakeboarder has their own comfort level which is pretty important if you want to wakeboard for more than a few minutes without pain!

Finally, make sure not to let the price be your sole deciding factor. Whether you’re buying new or discount wakeboards, the most important thing is that the equipment suits your weight, that it can hold up to your skill and maybe most important of all, that you want to go out and use it the first chance you get!

Interested in wakeboarding? Perhaps you can start off with a good discount wakeboard today. Remember to get wakeboard vests too.

If you are looking for a fun and cool way to get around town, try an electric skateboard. It can help you get to where you want to go faster, and even give you extra help up hills.

Having a motor doesnt mean you still cant kick the board along. Many boards let you kick the electric skateboard when you want to save the battery, or when you are just feeling like you want to get some exercise.

If you are tired of walking to school, your next class, your place of work, or wherever, throw a little excitement in your life and pick up an electric skateboard. Walking is boring, riding an electric skateboard isnt!

E-Glide makes quality electric skateboards, and at the time this article was written, they currently have five models. All of their boards, besides one, can go up to 20 mph in just four seconds. The DC-36 is a smaller and lighter model that is more affordable, but it goes slower than the others. Their boards (besides the DC-36) can go 12-15 miles per charge. To control the speed, each board has a controller that is connected to the board via a cable. They say they use a cable because wireless controllers can be susceptible to interference.

If you would rather have a wireless controller, check out Exkates line up of electric skateboards. There top models can go up to 19-20 mph. If you want an electric skateboard that can handle rougher terrain, they even have a model fitted with knobby tires.

Electric skateboards can be expensive, but they are not at all expensive to charge. When you compare the cost per mile of an electric skateboard versus the cost per mile of a gas burning vehicle, you would be amazed at how much less expensive electricity is!

If you want an electric skateboard for fun, transportation, or both, either E-Glide or Exkate make models that will do the trick. Each model differs in areas such as price and speed, so do your research and pick the right one for you!

Getting up on a wakeboard can be tricky as it has to be in sync with the movement of the boat. Do not be in a hurry to get up. Timing is very crucial. Patience is the key with the timing being right as one learns wakeboarding. Therefore, new wakeboarding enthusiasts should read the few pointers below. First of all, you need to make sure that your feet are secured to the wakeboard which you shall complete by taking the handles of the rope in your hand. Remember not to pull at the handle. One needs to hold onto it to stay connected to the boat.

Your initial position before the boat starts moving – This is the first and most important step when one starts to learn. The wakeboard is now parallel to the rear of the speed boat. Your feet are in the upward direction while the wakeboard is just at the edge of the water.

Till the boat begins to pull you, the only part of your body that is connected to the wakeboard will be your feet As the boat pulls you, your body with will be pulled out from the water and onto the wakeboard. The boat’s gentle pull will bring your body from the water onto the wakeboard so that you are now no longer in the water but squatting on the wakeboard with your toes resting firmly on the wakeboard. You must balance your body along with the movement and the tempo of the boat. This means you will be in a squatting position on the wakeboard. Do not resist the pull of the handle or be over eager in your response to the tug of the rope. Your hold over the rope handle should remain the same.

When you rise make sure that you are able to turn your hip in a manner which will cause the wakeboard to get into a straight line, directly in sync with the boat than its earlier position. And maintain your hold over the rope handle. This means that one of your feet is in front of another. Most of your body weight is on the back foot while the wakeboard’s front portion is at an angle on the waters.

As the boat gathers speed, stay calm and do not shift from your position as this will cause you to lose balance and fall into the water.

Wake boarding and water skiing are entirely two different sports although there appears to be some similarity between the two.

The nature of both the rides is a key point of difference between the two. Water skiing is an original sport in itself whereas wake boarding is a blend of surfing, snow boarding, skate boarding and of course water skiing. A water skier wears skis and holds onto a rope tied at the rear of a speed boat and is pulled across the waters by it. Though wakeboarding follows the same principle, it is more of a combination of surfing and snow boarding along with water skiing and a little bit of skate boarding as well.

Water skiing traditionally is just a ride behind a speed boat. This is pursued for the simple pleasure of skiing over waters. It is more of a smooth sailing ride unlike wake boarding which is a rough riding sport . Wake boarders, like surfers, ride on waves or rather wakes left by the speed boat behind which it is towed and as such a major factor in wake boarding is the size of the wakes.

The equipment and gear used in both these sports are again entirely different. Wake boarders use a board much like a surf board but include foot straps and fins for better balance over waters while a water skier uses the traditional water skis for riding on water. Depending on the type of skiing, water skiers may use either one or two skis while wakeboarding is done with both feet strapped onto a single board.

The boats used to pull these sports riders are also of different makes. Water skiers use any simple motor boat for water skiing. The difference in wake boarding boats is in the structure designed to increase weight at the rear which aids in creating larger wakes behind the speeding boat. Almost all wakeboard boats have the engine placed backwards at the rear of the boat as a load increasing measure. Other techniques are also used to lower the stern which will give rise to higher waves. Newer technologies are being used as manufacturers compete with each other to create boats with higher waves.

Ropes – a key equipment used for these rides also have contrary features. Ropes used for wake boarding should not be of an elastic nature as this will tend to tip the balance of the wake boarder whereas stretchable ropes are needed in water skiing as the stretch factor helps in maneuvering curves behind a speeding boat.

OK, so much for the differences between water ski and wakeboards.

The history of skateboarding is very unique and fascinating. It has managed to influence music, clothing and even haircuts. That is saying quite a lot. If you are not familiar with this sport then it is time you get in touch with your skateboard roots. Following are some common questions about skateboarding. The answers might just inspire you to get involved in this exciting pursuit.

When was skateboarding invented? The history of skateboarding is very vague. Most people believe that it all started in California during the 1940′s or 1950′s when surfers wanted a way to practice their surfing moves when the water was calm. No one really knows when the first skateboard was invented or who invented it. It appears that many people came up with the idea at the same time. The first skateboards were pieces of boards with roller skate wheels attached. It was actually referred to as “sidewalk surfing” for quite a while. The earliest skaters, or rather surfers, would perform many of the standard moves they did while actually surfing on water. It is known, however, that the first commercially produced skateboard was ordered by a California surf shop. The Chicago Roller Skate Company produced a wooden board with wheels attached. From there the hobby began to draw interest of kids that did not necessarily surf and the skateboard was improved.

How has skateboarding become so main stream? Skateboarding really was not considered main stream until the 1980′s and 1990′s. As more youth began to participate in the sport it became obvious that there was great money to be made. More cities began to build skate parks as an alternative to people skating and doing tricks on crowded sidewalks or streets. There was some opposition though as some cities felt that the culture and image associated with skaters was negative and dangerous. When video game consoles became more advanced, game designers were quick to include skating games. This helped further launch skateboarding as a solid hobby and even a profession.

What are some well known skateboarding movies? One of the most controversial movies to portray skateboarding is Video Days. It was released in 1991 and is a short film that gives off a definite misrepresentation of the skater culture. In the film skaters are portrayed as being rebels with no respect for other people. That changed through with Grind and Lords of Dogtown. Those two movies helped young skaters immensely. The movies were very popular and actually showed skaters as being fun-loving and respectful. It also helped launch skateboarding into a true sport that thrived with healthy competition and a true testament to skill. Another well known movie is Gleaming the Cube from 1989. It is a movie that stars Christian Slater and really marks the beginning of a brand new era for skateboarders. It also happened to feature some of the best skaters in the business such as the world famous Tony Hawk.

Can skateboarding be dangerous? There is no doubt about it…skateboarding can be dangerous. That is why skaters use protective gear. Those that do not are just taking unnecessary risks with their lives. Basic skating is simple if you are on a level ground and going in one direction. But that is not how skaters ride. They are doing amazing tricks and stunts that truly test gravity and the human body. If it were not for protective gear that body could easily end up in the hospital. And sometimes not even protective gear can stop skaters from getting hurt.

If you search the internet, you will find that there are many websites that guide you through how to do old style moves and develop strong skating skills.

Old school skating is usually done in skate parks and not on the street. You will see old school skating done on half pipes and pools. Luckily, local governments have started to cotton on to the fact that skating is so popular and there are more and more skate parks that are being put in in local parks.

If you want to try out some of the old school skating, then you need to be aware of your skills before you start. Safety should be first in your mind in order to avoid you becoming injured as well as to avoid hurting others by being out of control on your skateboard. When you know your limitations, then you can begin to work on increasing your skills and use the skate park more effectively and safely.

There are loads of neat old school tricks that you can start to learn and master when you have developed sufficient control. It usually takes a lot of practice in order to perfect the tricks, but you can get a lot of hints and tips from websites that are set up by pros and sponsored skaters or even just skate lovers who are willing to share their experiences.

Some of the old school tricks that you should try to learn include 360 spin, casper, 50-50, ollie, pogo and butterflip. If you can master some of those moves through online teaching and sharing of tricks, then you will be well on your way to being a good skater.

Wakeboarding is a popular water sport. But it is tricky when one tries to get on to a wakeboard for the first time as it has to be in sync with the boat’s movement. Patience in getting up on it and the right timing is very crucial. Hence, the ones who are new to wakeboarding need to be careful in reading the below points. Let’s start at the beginning. First of all, you need to make sure that your feet are secured to the wakeboard which you shall complete by taking the handles of the rope in your hand. But pulling at it will get you nowhere. It needs to be held onto so that you stay connected to the boat.

Your initial position before the boat starts moving – Now the wakeboard is parallel to the rear part of the boat. The wakeboard is now parallel to the rear of the speed boat. Your feet are in the upward direction while the wakeboard is just at the edge of the water.

Till the boat begins to pull you, the only part of your body that is connected to the wakeboard will be your feet No amount of pulling is going to help. This means that till the boat begins movement, the wakeboard is the only solid contact you have. When the speed boat begins to move, let the motion of the boat pull up out of the water and onto the wakeboard. Once you are confident, you can rise up on the wakeboard. Yet be careful, don’t get over confident, just go with the flow. It is imperative that you rise without loosening or increasing the tension of the rope.

When you rise make sure that you are able to turn your hip in a manner which will cause the wakeboard to get into a straight line, directly in sync with the boat than its earlier position. And maintain your hold over the rope handle. In this stance you have one foot in front of the other. Most of your body weight is on the back foot while the wakeboard’s front portion is at an angle on the waters.

Now as you hold the rope it should be resting at your hip as you move ahead.

The history of snowboarding is one that is quite intriguing. Especially for anyone who is avid in the sport or even just now getting started in it, it is important to understand the history behind the sport. It really came from garages and made its way to the Olympics and is one of the quickest sports to reach such heights of popularity. It is now considered to be one of the most popular winter sports in the world.

One of the most basic snowboarding tricks to learn is the grab. You simply go down a slope and up over a jump, then while you are in the air you want to reach both hands down and grab your board. You can only use one hand if you want, but make sure either way that you give yourself time to take your hands out from under the board before you land. The more air you are able to get the longer you can hold the board before landing and the cooler the trick will look.

If this is your first time on a snowboard you will probably be surprised at how difficult it can be even just to stand in one spot. This is because you have your feet strapped together onto a board and so it can be hard to find your center of gravity and get comfortable on the board. Once you feel a bit more comfortable and can stand up freely on your board, try the skating move. Now you can learn the skating move which is basically just gliding along in a straight line on your board.

This is what you will use whenever you are on level snow and need to get moving. The skating move is what you will need to use when you are going through flat areas or terrains. If you want to switch edges all you have to do is jump up and flip around while you are in the air, then you will land on the other side of your board. Gliding is the basic movement that boarders use to gain snowboard control, which is used more than anything when going down a hill.

Of course there are a lot of stereotypes that follow snowboarders, such as that they use marijuana. This was mainly due to the fact that in the very first Olympics snowboarding was featured in, in 1998, one of the winners was found to have marijuana in his system. Ross Rebagliati really started off the sport in the wrong way and that stereotype still sticks for a lot of snowboarders. Snowboarding is a fantastic sport and its popularity is expected to only continue to rise.

In 1994, the International Olympic committee approved snowboarding as an Olympic event. It made its debut in 1998 at the Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. No doubt this approval was due to the hugely growing popularity of the sport all over the world since the 1960s. In fact, during the middles of the 1980s, fewer than 10% of all ski areas in the United States allowed snowboarding. In 2010, it is allowed in more than 95% of them.

The snowboard is fairly similar to a surf board or skate board and is built to ride down a slope covered with snow. Boots are worn that are mounted with flexible bindings to the board, sort of perpendicular to it. This is unlike skis, in which boots are facing forward.

The largest demographic for snowboarders is 18-24. The main reason for this is probably cost. While a pair of startup skis could run from $400-$600, an entry level snowboard with boots and bindings can be found for around $200. Another reason is its perception. Snowboarding is considered “cool” with all its creative athleticism. A big focus for the sport is the various tricks that can be done as well as having one’s own personal style and technique.

For newcomers to the sport, the most common form of snowboarding is called freestyle. A freestyle board is generally wider, lighter and more stable and flexible so beginners have an easier time dealing with turns and terrain. Few or no tricks are performed in a freestyle run.

The style most loved by enthusiasts is free ride. These boarders are not limited to terrain type and can adapt to various snow conditions like powdery snow cover or icy cover. There are many tricks in the free ride repertoire. These include surface, aerial and half pipe. A free ride board is usually stiffer than a freestyle board as it helps navigate hard turns.

Another form of snowboarding is free carving. The goal in this style is pure speed. Thus, few or no tricks or jumps are done. The best condition for free carving is hard packed snow since it usually entails hard turns while racing downhill. A free carve board, which is also called an Alpine board, are typically the longest and narrowest of all boards. Since advanced control of the board is so important, this style is not intended for beginners.

One of the many things that make snowboarding so exciting is the chance to do many different tricks. Like skateboarders, snowboarders include spins, twists and jumps in their tricks. Some of the best known of these tricks are the Canadian bacon, Japan air, ollies, nollies, poptarts, melons and flails.

Popularity of this sport continues to soar. It has been featured in 4 Winter Olympics including Nagano, Japan, Salt Lake City, U. S., Turin, Italy and most recently, Vancouver, Canada. Thus the sport has received great television coverage. Additional TV coverage for other events and competitions has increased as well. While once considered an extreme sport, it has worked its way into becoming among the mainstream pastime sports. If you enjoyed this article why not look up blue mountain rental and learn the proper wat to snowboard.

Though there appears to be a lot of similarity between the two water rides, wakeboarding and water skiing are two completely different sports.

The nature of the sport by itself provides the most striking difference between the two. Water skiing is a relatively straightforward sport while wake boarding is a derivative of several different games. In water skiing a person uses skis to ride the waters while being pulled along by a moving speed boat. Wake boarding, though it adopts the same principle also includes skills derived from other sports like surfing, snow boarding and skate boarding.

As mentioned earlier water skiing is a simple water ride. This is pursued for the simple pleasure of skiing over waters. It is more of a smooth sailing ride unlike wake boarding which is a rough riding sport . Wakeboarding is an offshoot of surfing which means that the wake boarders prefer larger waves to ride on.

Some of the major differences between the two sports involve the equipment and gear. Water skiers ride the waters on water skis whereas the wakeboarding sport makes use of specially designed boards complete with foot straps and fins to help maintain the balance of the wake boarder. Unless you are slalom skiing, skiers generally use two different skis for both feet whereas wake boarders use a single board.

The boats used to pull these sports riders are also of different makes. A water skier’s tow boat can be any simple boat but the wake boarders need to use specially designed speed boats. The difference in wake boarding boats is in the structure designed to increase weight at the rear which aids in creating larger wakes behind the speeding boat. The wake board boats have increased weight at the rear to create larger wakes. Other techniques are also used to lower the stern which will give rise to higher waves. Newer technologies are being used as manufacturers compete with each other to create boats with higher waves.

The ropes used to pull the skiers and the wake boarders also belong to opposite categories. Ropes used for wake boarding should not be of an elastic nature as this will tend to tip the balance of the wake boarder whereas stretchable ropes are needed in water skiing as the stretch factor helps in maneuvering curves behind a speeding boat.

Now that you know the differences, visit the following website for more information: Water Ski Equipment Discount Wakeboards

There are a lot of companies coming out of the woods and creating skateboarding boards. The trick is to know who you can trust and not get ripped off. As a longtime skateboarding freak I have had the chance to ride a lot of different skateboards so I decided to put together my top five list of skateboarding boards companies and I’ll let you choose which board is right for you. Not all skateboards are the same and if you are new to the sport then this list will get you going in the right direction.

5 Best Skateboarding Boards

I don’t have these in any special order but one of my favorites is Element.

Element Skateboards When you talk about skateboarding boards you have to mention Element. An older very established compnay they earn the right to be my first honorable mention. While they did have some problems a while back they came through with shining colors partly due to a guy by the name of Bam Margera. This gave the company credibility again and gave them the resources to do the research necessary to put out some great boards. If you are looking for a 7 ply board you can try their Thriftwood. This board is strong and really takes a beating. They have some new lightweight boards that aren’t light on the wallet but they are light on the concrete.

Zero Skateboards If you want some insanely crazy graphics with skulls and knives then you are gonna love these skateboarding boards. Endorsed by Jamie Thomas along with Chris Cole these skateboards are killer on the concrete. Their lower priced boards are competitively priced and hold up well for the everyday rider. The high end boards are a bit steep but you get what you pay for.

Plan B Skateboards Plan B skateboards did a nice job for a relatively new skateboarding company. If you are aggressive and want a board that will stand up to the concrete then this is a good board for you. The 7 ply construction is what you would expect and holds up as well as an 8 ply right out of the box. Don’t be afraid to take this board to task it can handle it.

Powell Skateboards Another ancient skateboard company that just puts out great skateboarding boards is Powell. You know if you’re riding a Powell you are riding on a good board. I have pushed this board to the limit and other than a few scratches she held up great. I’m not a big fan of the graphics but if you can look beyond that you can feel confident that this board is going to last you.

Birdhouse Skateboards Other than the name Birdhouse it is a great board. You know they gotta be if Tony Hawk is involved. For me they rank right up there with Element and for many they are number one. If you are looking to get some air and land without worrying then Birdhouse will show you the way. With their new Black 6 technology you can rest assured they you are getting the top of the line skateboarding board.

There you have it, my top five skateboarding boards. Choosing a board you like is a very personal decision. There are things you will like with one skateboard and something else you will like with another. The trick is to find one that has most of what you like and then stick with it.

Now that you checked out my article check out my website at Skateboarding Boards and see if you can find a board you like. There are a lot of excellent tips and tricks, you can even learn how to boardslide

When you go snowboarding there are a number of pieces of kit that you require in order to maximise your performance out on the mountain. One of these will certainly be getting the correct snowboard goggles enable you to see clearly and not suffer from any problems while you are snowboarding.

The first step will be to think about exactly where you are snowboarding. The reason for this is because you have to to work out the light conditions that you are likely to meet when you are out on the mountain. Different light conditions require different lenses and as such this is an important thing to find out.

Next, pick the right lenses. Once you have worked out exactly what sort of like you are likely to encounter, you need to then choose the right sort of lens to go with your goggles. In addition to this, it is always a good idea to consider getting goggles that have removable lenses. This will allow you to swap the lenses over depending on the current light conditions that you are facing.

Once you have determined all of these and made your choice as to what sort of lenses and you will get, you should then check some reviews to find some excellent goggles given the specification that you have determined. You can check snowboard magazines, websites, and forums to find numerous reviews on different sorts of goggles.

When you have found some ideal goggles that you are interested in then you merely have to go out and shop for them. There are many places where you will be able to buy them, such as in a snowboard or winter sports shop, or simply online.

If you take the steps then you will be able to find the ideal goggles that will suit your snowboarding experience.

Snowboard goggles help to protect your eyes from the rays of the sun so you can enjoy the action of your snowboard.

Everyone has certainly noticed the way that snow boarding has been rising and rising in terms of popularity recently, and I am sure that it’s not just me that’s spotted. In the last 10 years or so snowboarding has gone from skateboarding on snow, to the Olympic Games, quicker than you one could ever imagine.

Firstly snow boarding started when the little known Sherman Poppen made a decision to nail kid’s skis together in an attempt to improve their skating abilities. This was just the start, and as Sherman spotted the economic potential of this he decided to go about getting them into production. Millions of dollars and thousands of ecstatic boarders later on Sherman will always be remembered for bringing snow boarding to the masses.

The 1st official competition took place in 1982 and since that time snow boarding has seen more and more competitions take place. As the competitions started to spread, snow-boarding modified from a spare time pursuit to a pro sport, that needs talent and agility in equal measure.

The largest attainment for snow-boarding took place in 1998 when boarding made it to the winter Olympics. Held in Nagano Japan, the game was given more than its equal share of coverage. The game was studied by so many people that have not seen the game before. The sale of snow boarding and snowboarding hardware was said to has risen by 47% following its appearance in the TVs of millions around the world. As the amount of competition rose, and as the amount of boarders rose in more than equal measure the standards in the sport became phenomenal. The sort of things that folk are doing these days were not even heard of 10 years back.

The upward thrust of snow boarding hasn’t just been a consequence of competition. It is also as it fits under the category of a great, exciting sport and as significantly : a sport that may be done freestyle! Making appearances on telly alongside motor cross, skateboarding, and skate boarding snow boarding has been helped by the personalities that have come through the game. The truth is that skiing doesn’t have the cool look that snowboarding has. Surely you know what I mean? The skier looks to rigid, and just doesn’t have the relaxed, in control look that makes snow boarders one hundred times cooler.
