The wheels of a skateboard come in a lot of different sizes and hardness. These wheels are made of a rubber like material called urethane. The size and hardness of the wheels have an effect on the easiness of the ride on a skateboard, how fine it handles, as well as its velocity. The main purpose of having trucks that are not fixed is to enable you to turn or "carve" without lifting your front wheels off the ground. The looser your trucks are, the further you will be able to lean in one direction or the other.

Skateboard wheels do not only maintain your skateboard rolling but are as well in charge for maintaining you on your feet as you deal with different landscape. Wheels are fasten to the axles of the trucks by means of a hex bolt also there are 8 bearings, two put in into every wheel with a spacer between these bearings.

The skateboard wheels come in different sizes, from 48 to 100 mm, and different hardness. Nearly all skateboard wheels, like mentioned above, are made of urethane, as well as include a hardness rating marked on the wheel for example, 95a or 100a constantly with an "a" following the number. The higher is the number the harder the wheel. For example, a 101a wheel is harder than a 95a. A 100a or 101a is suitable for street riding but on ramps and in a skateboard park 95a would do well.

The trucks are bolted to the bottom of the deck. This is your suspension and axles for the deck and wheels. The wheels bolt onto the ends of the trucks and include wheel bearings so the wheels can spin. Wheels come in different sizes and hardnesses to help you custom tailor your ride.
