I am about to get a Plan B skateboard and i know, no matter what you do that skateboards will eventually snap. I am a little on the heavy side around 175 and I was wandering if there is anything that could help reinforce my skateboard to help prevent snapping of my skateboard? Any ideas help! Home remedies, store bought items, anything! I just need some help! Thank you!

the only advice i have is an almost impact deck... my friend has one and says its not quit as good as other decks he's had but it is very durable... he says any other deck he's had would have snapped by now but its still going strong...

When was skateboarding invented? The history of skateboarding is very vague. Most people believe that it all started in California during the 1940's or 1950's when surfers wanted a way to practice their surfing moves when the water was calm. No one really knows when the first skateboard was invented or who invented it. It appears that many people came up with the idea at the same time. The first skateboards were pieces of boards with roller skate wheels attached. It was actually referred to as "sidewalk surfing" for quite a while. The earliest skaters, or rather surfers, would perform many of the standard moves they did while actually surfing on water. It is known, however, that the first commercially produced skateboard was ordered by a California surf shop. The Chicago Roller Skate Company produced a wooden board with wheels attached. From there the hobby began to draw interest of kids that did not necessarily surf and the skateboard was improved.

How has skateboarding become so main stream? Skateboarding really was not considered main stream until the 1980's and 1990's. As more youth began to participate in the sport it became obvious that there was great money to be made. More cities began to build skate parks as an alternative to people skating and doing tricks on crowded sidewalks or streets. There was some opposition though as some cities felt that the culture and image associated with skaters was negative and dangerous. When video game consoles became more advanced, game designers were quick to include skating games. This helped further launch skateboarding as a solid hobby and even a profession.

What are some well known skateboarding movies? One of the most controversial movies to portray skateboarding is Video Days. It was released in 1991 and is a short film that gives off a definite misrepresentation of the skater culture. In the film skaters are portrayed as being rebels with no respect for other people. That changed through with Grind and Lords of Dogtown. Those two movies helped young skaters immensely. The movies were very popular and actually showed skaters as being fun-loving and respectful. It also helped launch skateboarding into a true sport that thrived with healthy competition and a true testament to skill. Another well known movie is Gleaming the Cube from 1989. It is a movie that stars Christian Slater and really marks the beginning of a brand new era for skateboarders. It also happened to feature some of the best skaters in the business such as the world famous Tony Hawk.

Can skateboarding be dangerous? There is no doubt about it...skateboarding can be dangerous. That is why skaters use protective gear. Those that do not are just taking unnecessary risks with their lives. Basic skating is simple if you are on a level ground and going in one direction. But that is not how skaters ride. They are doing amazing tricks and stunts that truly test gravity and the human body. If it were not for protective gear that body could easily end up in the hospital. And sometimes not even protective gear can stop skaters from getting hurt.

5 Best Skateboarding Boards

I don't have these in any special order but one of my favorites is Element.

Element Skateboards When you talk about skateboarding boards you have to mention Element. An older very established compnay they earn the right to be my first honorable mention. While they did have some problems a while back they came through with shining colors partly due to a guy by the name of Bam Margera. This gave the company credibility again and gave them the resources to do the research necessary to put out some great boards. If you are looking for a 7 ply board you can try their Thriftwood. This board is strong and really takes a beating. They have some new lightweight boards that aren't light on the wallet but they are light on the concrete.

Zero Skateboards If you want some insanely crazy graphics with skulls and knives then you are gonna love these skateboarding boards. Endorsed by Jamie Thomas along with Chris Cole these skateboards are killer on the concrete. Their lower priced boards are competitively priced and hold up well for the everyday rider. The high end boards are a bit steep but you get what you pay for.

Plan B Skateboards Plan B skateboards did a nice job for a relatively new skateboarding company. If you are aggressive and want a board that will stand up to the concrete then this is a good board for you. The 7 ply construction is what you would expect and holds up as well as an 8 ply right out of the box. Don't be afraid to take this board to task it can handle it.

Powell Skateboards Another ancient skateboard company that just puts out great skateboarding boards is Powell. You know if you're riding a Powell you are riding on a good board. I have pushed this board to the limit and other than a few scratches she held up great. I'm not a big fan of the graphics but if you can look beyond that you can feel confident that this board is going to last you.

Birdhouse Skateboards Other than the name Birdhouse it is a great board. You know they gotta be if Tony Hawk is involved. For me they rank right up there with Element and for many they are number one. If you are looking to get some air and land without worrying then Birdhouse will show you the way. With their new Black 6 technology you can rest assured they you are getting the top of the line skateboarding board.

There you have it, my top five skateboarding boards. Choosing a board you like is a very personal decision. There are things you will like with one skateboard and something else you will like with another. The trick is to find one that has most of what you like and then stick with it.

The actual Ollie is the basic trick you must master when you are skate boarding.

Nevertheless, you need to understand that learning to carry out the Ollie is usually difficult.
